Zagreb was a nice 92 degrees today. A little too hot for all the outdoor sight seeing we had planed. We headed to the market because we’ve learned from past trips that these can be fun and provide a great opportunity for people watching. This market was huge. There was an indoor part as well for your meats and cheeses. We noticed that a lot of the men sat down at cafes while their wives/girlfriends did the shopping. We found a cafe of our own and had an early lunch. We both ordered a burek. Mine was filled with cheese and Devin’s with meat.
Zagreb Cathedral
We then paid a visit to the Zagreb Cathedral. It’s the tallest building in all of Croatia and it really stands out. We took a peek inside to look around and get out of the heat.
We spent another hour walking through Zagreb enjoying the sights and sounds.

Pool time
When we were all tired out we came back to our hotel to relax from the heat in the pool/spa. We had scheduled a theatrical tour that started at 9 PM in the old part of the city and weren’t quite sure what to expect other than it was advertised to be in English on Saturdays. As usual we showed up a bit early and climbed up to St. Marks Church and also go a nice view of Zagreb from our location. It was a great tour. Everyone got lamps and we walked through the old town with our guide impersonating Croatian writer Marija Jurić Zagorka. We learned a little of Zagreb history and that a canon is fired from a tower to mark noon. We heard this cannon while we were near the cathedral and had hoped it was a car back firing.
After the tour we headed back to the hotel for the evening.
