Zagreb has a very laid back atmosphere. It apparently has 4200 places where you can drink coffee and the locals visit one at least once a week. Could be a joke but I heard the typical coffee break lasts about 2 hours. During our wanderings I can tell you that they do indeed have a lot of cafés and they are very well patronized. At least one has a sense of humor:
Dress to impress
The women of Zagreb dress to impress. Their outfits were very well put together no matter the occasion. It doesn’t matter if you’re headed to work or going on a walking tour. Heels were common as were flats and sandals. I only ever saw tourists wearing tennis shoes. It reminded me of articles I used to read about how Europeans dress so much nicer than Americans. This is the first country I’ve been in where I can see evidence of this.
Old town is amazing! I thought the area with the market and the cathedral WAS old town. I’m so glad we did the Gric tour because it gave us an unexpected opportunity to experience great views and old city charm.
