First and foremost Venice is super touristy. Our AirBnB even has an American coffee maker!! I almost cried at the sight of it and I’m even getting emotional writing this. I don’t think locals even live on the island of Venice.
Touring Venice
Our tour started at 9:30 at St. Marks square. Our tour guide, who’s name I can’t remember, met us with a sign. Apparently others had cancelled on our tour so there was us and a couple from South Carolina totaling five.
Our guide took us through the St. Mark’s basilica but we weren’t allowed to take photos inside which is a shame since the ceiling has 96,000 feet of mosaics. The inside was neat and our guide slipped up calling Catholic dogma legends vs history. The tour also took us to a market where fish and spices were being sold.
Our tour ended in an gondola ride in the rain. Luckily the gondolier had an umbrella to loan me as I’d forgotten my rain jacket hoping for better weather.
After the tour I went back to the apartment to rest while Devin and Linda continued exploring Venice. After I rested I texted Devin and found they’d found a cafe and ordered Bellini’s. I was jealous and quickly headed over to crash the fun.
After some more glasses of wine we headed out to do some last exploring of Venice. When we had exhausted ourselves we headed back to our apartment. Our apartment is on the 4th floor with no elevator. After some debate we decided to go get take out for dinner.
Dinner
Devin and I found a place that did pizza and pasta take out. We ordered two pizzas and pasta carbonara to go. While we were waiting for our food I realized they also sold wine so I added a bottle to our order. When it was ready we quickly headed back to our apartment and had dinner and drinks on the terrace.
