We stayed in Salerno to save a few bucks and I for one have zero regrets! Our Airbnb was right off the main shopping street, just 2 blocks from the boardwalk, and across the street from a gelateria. It was super close to the ferry and a great launching pad to explore Positano and Amalfi.

Just around the corner from our Airbnb, tucked into a courtyard, was also a delicious pizza place. If you eat outside in the evening, you’ll get to watch the parents catching up while the kids play.

The best part is we weren’t in a major tourist area. The shops were local and I was the only rando taking pictures on the street.
Salerno Castle
We didn’t get a chance to explore this castle on this trip but if we get to go back, it’s going to happen!

Evening Walk
After we got back from Pompeii, I convinced the gang to go explore the boardwalk. It’s such a great area with benches and trees and very heavily used by the locals.

Morning Run
On our last day in town I went for a run along the boardwalk. There were so many people out enjoying the morning and what a lovely morning it was!
From Salerno, we caught a high speed train back to Rome.
Gorgeous!
