Our plan was to wake up, do a small hike, and enjoy the sunrise on the Grand Tetons.  We did 1 and 2 but the clouds did not cooperate.  We did have a standoff with a deer on the trail.  It was too early to offer a hug as I was without coffee.

My coffee addiction needed to be dealt with so we went to the nearest restaurant and had the breakfast buffet.  Re-energized we headed for Jenny Lake to do some hiking.  The clouds had cleared and the weather was great as we set out.  The trail was going to take us around the back of Jenny Lake which was named out of respect for Forrest Gump’s love interest.

Our hike brought us to Hidden Falls which aren’t really that hidden since there is a boat dock that shuttles visitors to it.  There is a point called inspiration point but we only managed to hit lower inspiration point.  I was reminded of the MAD TV sketch Lower Expectations.

After our hike we headed back to Jackson to do some grocery shopping and then head to our cabin near the west entrance of Yellowstone.

  1. Ha! Love the sunrise with the cloud photo. Gorgeous. That deer looked like it needed since coffee too!

Checked out the skit! Hilarious. MAD TV is the best.
