Chris and I split up this morning. He tackled Coffee and Contemplation while I tackled Arches National Park. I think I got the better end if the deal as I got to take in some amazing views AND came back to clean laundry!
I lacked a map, and I didn’t have a solid plan, but I still managed to make my way to the most famous arches, the Delicate Arch. It’s located a mile and a half from the parking lot, and I highly recommend wearing boots or at least tying your tennis shoes as it’s a steep climb/decent. I am foolish and did neither, but I still made it! No falls or unexpected trips to ER either?
I plopped myself down once I reached the top and just enjoyed the view. That’s me on the left of this “delicate” arch. From this angle, doesn’t it look a bit like the bottom half of a a stone golem with a bum knee?
After the Delicate Arch it was on-wards to Windows. The names here are… inspired? A stretch? I dunno but I do know I don’t agree with most of them. Did you see those pics of “delicate”? Delicate is decidedly not delicate in my opinion. Nor did Windows appear to be Windows or the Turret appear to be a turret. In fact, I called the Turret a peek a boo hole when I saw it.
Windows is home to my favorite place, the Double Arches. They’re gorgeous, not nearly as crowded as Delicate Arch, and the people hanging out inside the arches were kindred spirits: read they like to climb as much if not more than me!
Great photos and while not delicate, still amazing! What a fun solo adventure.
