This past weekend was our 2 year anniversary of living in the metro Seattle area. When we moved here I had big plans of spending copious amounts of free time exploring our new home. I purchased guidebooks and bookmarked a ton of things from travel websites with the intention of exploring at least one new thing each week.

You may not realize this but during the last 2 years, it’s been a little bit difficult to get out and explore. But just this month, the last of our major Covid restrictions (masks) were lifted so I’ve decided it’s time to reset the clock and enjoy our “first” year in the Pacific Northwest. To that end, we’re going to do a new thing every week starting now. First up: enjoying cherry blossom season.

Cherry Blossom Season

Somehow I’ve never noticed that cherry blossom season is the spring equivalent of PSL season. Okay, probably not but around here the trees are everywhere and there are always people taking photos of and with them. Heck, there’s even a race dedicated to them with cherry blossom tech shirts as SWAG.

As I was driving to my volunteer gig this past Sunday, I spied what seemed to be the local hangout for this activity. I’m not even joking there were probably 2 dozen people there! I decided then and there that we needed to celebrate cherry blossom season too. This evening, I took Chris back to the same spot (turns out it’s a church) for some dreaded (to him anyway) selfies with the blossoms. It’s a good thing he loves me!

  1. Hey, your selfies among the blossoms makes me smile. After yesterday’s windy weather, most of our Bradford pear blossoms are plastered all over the house and deck. Lovely header picture of you two. Happy Anniversary!

  2. Wow!!! Your purple hair is an amazing color with those cherry blossoms!!! Such a great time of year!! Happy three years now!
