One of the worst things about traveling is missing my furbabies. I hire a pet sitter who sends pictures and updates plus I set up cameras to spy on them when we’re gone but it’s absolutely not the same. There are no cuddles or purrs. No Marco to greet me when I walk in the door or Monster to sleep on my chest every night…

Anyway, I make it my goal to seek out cats when I travel for whatever affection they’ll let me bestow upon them. Many are street cats who will pause for a photo (if that!) but a very few will permit pets or even belly rubs in very rare instances. It makes my day every time.

Thailand was great for street cats, especially in Bangkok’s Chinatown. Because we did 2 tours in this area, I got to meet a lot of the neighborhood cats!

I saw minimal evidence of neighborhood cats in Singapore – just this chair reserved for the cat and a sign talking about who the cats are.

I’m not sure if this is because of the areas we visited or because of the very structured nature of the country. I suspect the rarity of neighborhood cats is rule-related as we visited a fair variety of neighborhoods but I really can’t say. Regardless, there were a ton of murals featuring cats and so that was my cat fix for this portion of the trip.

Phuket had a few street cats but they were pretty photo-shy except for this lil guy chilling near the entrance of our hotel.

When we returned to Bangkok, our hotel was in a different part of town. We were no longer near Chinatown and were in fact very near some very posh malls; ergo, no street cats. I struck gold tho when I dropped off dirty laundry at a nearby laundry service. They have 2 cats!

And right next door was a cat café that opened at 8 AM. This is relevant because all the other coffee shops in the area didn’t open until 10. I got kitty cuddles and Chris got coffee. Win win!

I love traveling but I adore getting back home to my furbabies. We’ve been back a few days now and they still stick by my side. I’m currently sharing the couch with 3 of them <3
