Wildlife need hugs too

Everyone needs a hug sometimes, even chipmunks.  However each one I offered a no-strings attached hug declined.  My last resort was to have Devin serenade them with a Disney princess style song.  Devin and the chipmunks weren’t in to that either.  Forget this peace love an harmony bullshit we had a great time kicking the crap out of nature today.

Jackson Hole

Entering from the south we made our way to Jackson, WY.  Sometimes it’s called Jackson Hole getting its namesake from when valleys were referred to as holes.  We stopped on top of the Teton Pass to stretch our legs and look at nature.

We stopped in Jackson for lunch and moved on right through.  We had bigger things to see.  Teton National Park is about 30 minutes away and where we were headed was an hour drive.  So we pointed our car towards the tall mountains and stepped on the gas.  I want to stop here and really thank Utah, Wyoming, and Idaho for having excessively high speeding limits.  Sometimes they are so high that many people don’t feel comfortable driving that fast.  We arrived at Colter’s Bay at 1400 and had originally booked a KOA south of Jackson but we felt we got here kind of late and had an immediate interest in checking the camping situation here. $30 later we had a campsite and a place to sleep. We did some hiking around a lake and drove up signal mountain.

If you haven’t been to any of the larger US parks they are almost like mini cities with gas stations, restaurants, and coffee shops.  We stopped at a restaurant near Jenny Lake for dinner.  No animals were looking for a hug in the night so we slept fairly well all things considered.
