It’s been nearly 4 years since we’ve flown internationally or otherwise done one of our bigger trips. The last one was an impulsive NYE trip to Prague. Since then, we’ve moved to Seattle (then Redmond and then back to Seattle), experienced a global pandemic, and just otherwise done other things besides go abroad. No Canada doesn’t count. Sorry, not sorry.

Our fancy new digs in Seattle proper offered us a great opportunity to add even more new things to our travel adventure! Photo ops with the Space Needle, and, more importantly, a ride on the monorail. Yeah. Lived in the area for years and never ridden on it. The fact that it only goes 1 stop is a bit too limiting for me usually but it was perfect for us today as we were able to take it from the Space Needle to the train station. From there, the train got us to the airport. Not bad for $3.50 (each) and it certainly beats the heck out of paying for parking!

SeaTac hasn’t changed much and long flights are still super long and boring but I did get to watch some fun Korean movies and TV shows. I highly recommend A Relationship With No Space Between which is apparently a remake of a French movie.

You’ll always be well fed on these flights and offered lots of booze. Not a bad way to dull the boredom so long as you avoid a hangover I suppose. We got to choose between “Western” and “Korean” for our entre. Regardless of what you chose, the cutlery came with instructions on how to consume one of the Korean options, bibimpap, which I thought was pretty cool.

We had to run to catch our connecting flight and it was amazing how many people there were out hustling you through security and encouraging you to hurry through the airport. We were not the last ones on the plane!

Customs is always fun as is trying to navigate through a new airport but we eventually made it. The highlight for me was the people movers that were kinda sorta escalators! I had no idea this was a thing. It makes total sense as you can load up a luggage cart and then go down the “escalator” but was not something I’d ever considered before.

Caught a cab to the hotel where we crashed and burned. Our hotel room has a “fancy” bidet. I kinda want to start a water fight because obviously, Chris would lose but I don’t want to deal with the mess… Meh. Maybe later
